Owinema^® is a very effective natural bio-agent for fighting off sciaridae in greenhouse cultivation and mushroom-growing cellar. The Owinema^® preparation used in a form of water suspension contains invasive larvae of insecticidal nematode from Steinernema feltiae. It is totally safe for the health of consumers and the environment and therefore can be introduced into any cultivation at any moment of production cycle.

Nematodes sprayed onto the soil surface actively look for larvae of pests and penetrate their bodies. Affected insects die within 24 hours and become a good environment for further development and reproduction of nematodes. Therefore the process of infecting new pest larvae has a continuous character and ensures constant protection.

The Owinema^® preparation functions perfectly both as a preventive and intrusive agent.

In multiplication cellars and greenhouse cultivation it can be effectively used for protection of: poinsettia, geranium, begonia, gerbera, cyclamen and others for which the fast multiplying Bradysia paupera gnats poses a great threat to young plants in various growth phases. Spraying or watering shall be made as prevention, immediately after rooting started and, if necessary, repeated after transplanting to bigger pots.

In mushroom cultivations the Owinema^® preparation demonstrates the biggest efficiency against larvae of Lycoriella solani gnats when used preventively on the next day after laying the cover. It is also very effective in intervention application in reaping cultivations in which formerly introduced chemical insecticides (e.g. Dimilin) fail to provide sufficient protection from pests.

No withdrawal period required for the preparation.

The preparation is offered in unit packagings containing approx. 50 million infection larvae of nematodes.

Nematodes in the Owinema^® preparation are resistant to most chemical pesticides except nematocides. Therefore it is not required to limit any other plant protection treatment or fertilization.

The Owinema^® preparation may be used together with any other biological measures in integrated programs of plant protection.

Prescribed dosage:

greenhouse cultivation: preventive – 0.5 million infection larvae/m²

intrusive – 1.0 million infection larvae/m²

mushroom cultivation – preventive and intrusive – 1.0 million infection larvae/m².
